Airline guide for surfers
Welcome to our 2023 Guide to excess baggage for your surfboards.
Going on a trip is cool, but paying excess baggage for your surfboards is hell!
Personally, I have had good and bad experiences with airlines during my various trips since 2013.
In this guide, we'll introduce you to the best airlines for surfers, and the services they offer to help you transport your surf gear safely and comfortably.
This guide is made for information purposes according to our experiences and our criteria.
We do not receive compensation from the airlines. If one of you wants to offer us a trip to test the service. We are takers.
Checking in for Perth from Bangkok Thai Airways and 7 boardbags alone was hell.
Due to having (very) bad surprises, I decided to create this list of baggage fees for the different airlines departing from Europe.
If you help us keep it up to date, that would be super cool. Just contact us via the contact form.
Rates change every year and airlines sometimes forget to update the rates for special baggage such assurfboards .
If we had to choose 5 companies to go to Asia and the Pacific Zone (Excluding Tahiti)
For Tahiti,
For the USA, Haiwai, the Caribbean and the South American continent:
- Air France / KLM
- Turkish Airlines
- Iberia .
In any case , it is recommended to contact the companies and their customer services before making your reservation to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
